Sick = Window Shopping!

Well, I'm sick. :(

I had planned to do an outfit post today but sick = Window Shopping post instead!  It's been quite awhile since I've done one and what else can I do when I'm sick, right?  Right! :)

Here are some things I've seen around the web lately that I love!

Oh this mint, eyelet 50's inspired blouse is so pretty (not to mention versatile)!  Perhaps a future summer staple?  I think so!

$71.90 by Cherise Design
I've been searching for a second pair of sunglasses (I always leave mine in my car), preferably inexpensive and versatile but still fun-- I'm pretty sure these cat eye pretties are exactly what I've been searching for!

$14.99 at Ruche
These earrings are beautiful, unique and nostalgic for me-- as a child, my brother and I always found cicada shells on a tree in my grandfather's backyard.  Even now, I find them to be fascinating creatures (and awesome accessories apparently)!

$30.00 by Larissa Loden
If I didn't love coral enough before, this cotton, watermelon hued dress has convinced me even more!  Such a simple but pretty summer frock, and at a solid price too!

$72.99 at ModCloth

Anyone who knows me well, knows that I'm deeply in love with storms.  I guess some people think they are gloomy, what's up with that?!  The thought of these rain-cloud decals above my bed or reading chair is so cozy to me! -^_^-

$60.00 at Love Mae
Well that's all for today folks!  Here I go, back to drinking tea, blowing my nose and generally trying to get out from under the weather (ha, those clouds!  Pun intended I suppose!).

Spring Stripes

Now that Spring is pretty much in full swing, I've been slowly incorporating some of my summer pieces into what I'm wearing.  Some days are still too cool and rainy but today was perfect for this fun striped dress that I haven't been able to wear yet!

Summer is swiftly on it's way and I'm so excited for it this year (like I'm not every year, ha)!  My schedule is about to change quite drastically come June, but it's welcome change.  Weekly meetings for the two High School ministries I'm involved in (one at my church and one in the community) will be over for the school year and I'll be stepping back from nanny-ing until the fall.  I'm seriously thinking about auditioning for a local community theatre musical, which is exhilarating but also crazy because I haven't been in one for years!  I'm also planning on talking with a local cobbler to possibly (hopefully!) apprentice over the summer and begin learning to make and repair leather shoes! -^_^-  Oh summer, you are taking shape indeed!

What do you have going on this summer?

Necklace- Ginger Hollow ($30)

Vintage Watch- Antique Market ($5)

Dress - Asos ($35)  / Cardigan- J.Crew Outlet ($?) / Sandals- Nordstrom ($?) /

Oh, by the way!  I'm going to try to start including the prices of things I'm wearing to prove that dressing frugally and uniquely is completely possible!  If there is ever a ? for the price, that means I bought it long enough ago that I don't remember the price (The sandals were on sale though, I remember that!).

Have a lovely day! -^_^-

Springtime Ladies Tea

Today, I had a Tea Party. -^_^-

Everyone looked so pretty!  I wore a vintage floral 60's dress and pink 50's cashmere cardigan.

I was so excited to invite lady friends from different parts of my life to sit at the same table and get to know each other!  People that I've always wanted to meet each other did, and it was very cool to see.  We all brought a box of tea and a finger food to share and ended up with such a lovely spred.  I wish I had taken pictures of it all, somehow whenever delicious food is in front of me I get a little preoccupied.. -^_^-  We had a really nice balance of savory + sweet with tea sandwiches, quiche, scones, cupcakes, melon balls, pie and doughnuts.  The only food picture I took was of some lemon lavender cupcakes that a friend brought, they were so yummy!

If you are contemplating having a tea party, I so encourage you to do it!  I just hope you take more pictures than I did!

Fresh Finds Friday + Tea Party Invites

Hello world.  In my process of becoming a more consistent and focused blogger I've decided to start gradually with one weekly feature (huge, I know) which will be called Fresh Finds Friday.  I usually hit Estate Sales every Friday to hunt down things for my shop (and sometimes my closet--ha!) so every Friday I'll share some of my finds!  So, without further ado, here goes!

This Friday I had the amazing experience of attending an Estate Sale literally a 1 minute drive from my house!  There are weeks that I drive over an hour to get to sales, so as you can imagine, this was wonderful!  As happy as I was that it was close, I was also overjoyed at the contents of the sale and what I left with (which isn't always the case).  You'll have to check out my shop in the coming weeks to see the clothing that I bought today, but here are my shoe purchases!

I don't know about you but these puppies make me swoon!  They are early 40's-late 50's and somehow all fit me perfectly...which makes it SO hard to let them go!  I also found out that my grandmother wore the same size that these shoes are marked (9aaa, in current day US size that's like a very narrow 7.5)  Have you ever thrifted, found or bought a vintage item that fit perfectly like it was meant for you?  I love situations like that, they fully support my belief that every vintage item has a right person out there somewhere.  That when the person finds the item, it's like a perfect match. -^_^-  I think I shall name this my Girl Meets Dress theory (or Boy Meets Jacket?).

Another thing I've really been wanting to update on is my Springtime Tea Party!  It's happening the first week in April (so soon!) so I'd better be figuring stuff out!  First off, here is the invitation that I designed!  Unfortunately, I ended up not sending paper invites and opting for a Facebook event instead.  Love/hate relationship w/ technology right here!

I also have been collecting vintage tea cups and saucers that I'll take pictures of soon!  If you're reading out there, I hope you have a great weekend and are enjoying Spring!  Till next time kiddos. -^_^-

Erin Go Bragh

If you are completely confused by that title, you are most likely not of Irish decent (Erin Go Bragh is the anglicized version of the Gaelic expression that means "Ireland forever!").  That is OKAY though because today everyone is a little Irish-- Happy St. Patrick's Day! -^_^-  My family is quite Irish on both sides so I take this holiday to heart and usually dress from head to toe in kelly green.  This year though, I decided to go a little more subtle with my green.

This Saint Patrick's day I had some grand plans in mind but unfortunately didn't plan enough in advance.  My original plans included lunch at Publican Quality Meats (my brother works there!) followed by hitting some thrift shops and such.  When I got to the train station however, the sheer madness that is St. Pat's day crowds headed downtown made me change my mind.  I swear there were hundreds of green clad people on the platform!

So instead, my Mom and I ended up grabbing lunch at a local Italian place (yikes, not very Irish of me I know!) and checking out some thrift and vintage shops nearby.  All-in-all a great St. Pats, just not what I had imagined!  Next year I think I'll host a party and make some of this and this among other things. Yum!  How did you celebrate St. Patrick's day?
